Israel and the Palestinians agreed to a deal brokered by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on the Gaza Strip border access point to Egypt at Rafah. The border will be reopened November 25. This is a baby step, but at least the cross border traffic in goats and cigarettes can resume. Of course, of such small steps are thriving economies gradually built…at least one pretty big economy got a boost from the tobacco trade.
She also gave a speech making clear that the burden of fighting terrorism and lawlessness is on the Palestinians.
Little steps, all in the right direction. An earlier GOP leader taught the value of taking what you can get and making the most of it and it looks like Rice learned the lesson well.
