Michelle Malkin in Jewish World Review moans about Laura Bush making funny:
“Self-censorship is a conservative value. ”
No, it isn’t. Self-censorship (aka “political correctness”) is a liberal value. A sense of humor is a conservative value.
I don’t normally read Michelle Malkin’s tripe. She’s highly overrated and makes me think that perhaps there actually is a divide between social conservatives and those who believe in limited government. She’s not any more socially conservative than Ann Coulter, whose writing I love, but she lacks a sense of humor and seems to lack the sense of perspective that comes with it.
So, I would have missed her carping if not for Eugene Volokh’s mentioning and then thoroughly debunking her piece.
