Chuck Hagel, Republican Senator from Nebraska is the closest thing to a Republican candidate for the 2008 Presidential nomination.

He is rated “A” by the National Rifle Association as a supporter of gun owners rights.

On Free Trade he’s rated 92% by the CATO institute.

He’s rated a 0% by “SANE” – the nuclear disarmament lobby.

He’s rated 0% by the National bortion Rights Action League.

He opposed the Medicare Prescription Drug boondoggle and has earned a low 12% rating from the American Public Health Association whose concern is federal funding for health care special interests.

He supports school choice and opposed the porkbarrel No Child Left Behind bill earning himself a 36% rating from the NEA, the teacher’s union whose goal is increased federal control and funding of education.

He is expected to introduce legislation allowing private ownership of Social Security accounts while maintaining benefits for current retirees and is rated 22% by the Alliance for Retired Americans.

Rated 50% by CURE, an organization of prisoner families whose goal is for prisons to have only rehabiliation as a goal.

He is rated as a Moderate Libertarian Conservative
