The Club For Growth –
“In case you haven’t already heard, the Club racked up another election victory in last week’s Illinois Senate Primary race. The Club for Growth-endorsed candidate Jack Ryan won a surprisingly easy 6 person primary with 36% of the vote. The second place finisher received 23%. Ryan is a charter Club for Growth member, so you know he’s obviously very bright. The Club endorsed Jack early in this race and we spent about $30,000 in radio ads in the Chicago area the last week prior to the election to educate voters about Jack’s pro-growth positions on the issues, and Club members also contributed heavily to his campaign.
For those of you who do not know Jack Ryan, he is a former investment banker at Goldman Sachs, who made his fortune and then retired at age 41 to become an inner-city school teacher in an all-black high school in the south side of Chicago. He taught American history and English Literature. The school has an outstanding record in sending disadvantaged students to top colleges. (If only ALL the kids in inner-city Chicago had school choice, we could rescue tens of thousands of kids every year from a corrupt government-run school system that cheats them out of a first class education, but I digress.)”
