So apparently less than 10 cents a pound?

Xinhua – English

The US Department of Commerce said it found, with the exception of one Chinese producer, shrimp were being sold in the United States at a “less than fair value.”

As a shrimp consumer, I’d say a fair value is the lowest price I can pay. A little closer reading and some quick math reveals that the dumping price is $2.50/pound. That’s a wholesale price. Apparently the government is committed to a retail price of $5+ per pound for shrimp.

I would have thought between WTO rulings against us, retaliation by the EU and the fact that steel unions endorsed John Kerry, the Bush administration might have had the guts political good sense to stick to Republican principles.
