Welcome to my website.
I am a third year, Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science at the University of Houston. My major field is international relations and my minor field is comparative politics. My research interests are authoritarian politics, leadership ideology, and international politic economy.
I’m working on the application of machine learning and Natural Language Processing to the measurement of leadership politics and to solving issues of non-transparency in measuring the behavior of authoritarian leaders.
This website predates my graduates studies, so it includes sections devoted to personal interests. The blog section is primarily from my earlier blog at this site, Tom Rants, though I will be adding some academically oriented blog posts in the future.
