Make the Ban on Internet Access Taxes Permanent – The President has signed into law a two-year extension of the Internet Access Tax moratorium. In addition, he has called on Congress to pass legislation to expand the moratorium to cover broadband and make it permanent.
The President proposes making the ban on internet access taxes permanent. This is a no-brainer for all but tax-and-spend liberals. “The power to tax is the power to destroy.” The internet may be the single most successful thing ever created out of a government program and allowing state governments to limit it with a patchwork of access taxes may well be one of the worst ideas in the history of government. Let the state governments be satisfied wtih the increased revenues they are getting from all the internet spurred economic growth.
Depending who you ask, Kerry either has endorsed a four year extension on the moratorium or has voted against it. (Perhaps he supported it before he opposed it.) When S.150, the Internet Tax Non-discrimination Act, was voted on in April, John Kerry missed the vote, so it’s obviously not high on his agenda as a Senator.
