The U.N. atomic watchdog fears referring Iran to the U.N. Security Council now for possible sanctions would split its members and would rather set a new deadline for Iran to halt sensitive work, diplomats said.
I think we’ve been down this road before. This is doubly bad though – the IAEA is so impotent that it won’t even stick to a deadline for sending the issue to the impotent Security Council so it can set deadlines it won’t enforce. My best guess is that the IAEA will get to doing something about a week after the first Iranian bomb goes off in New York City. Then the Security Council can debate it for a few more years.
