Trent Lott’s been running off at the mouth again and this time it may be his wife he offended. They’re banning lobbyist paid meals for Senators, so maybe we should start a group to take Mrs. Lott out to dinner so she doesn’t have to dine with him.
Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., chairman of the Rules Committee and one of the authors of the base bill along with Dodd, went along with the amendment but warned it could cause unintended problems every time a lawmaker or staff attended a reception where food’s available.
“It’s totally ludicrous that we are doing this,” Lott said. “I’ll be eating with my wife and so will a lot more senators after we pass this one.”
