Yahoo is now offering a beta version of a Creative Commons Search that allows search for works which allow commercial use and derivative works. (As they put it, “Find content I can use for commercial purposes” and “Find content I can modify, adapt, or build upon.”) This is certainly going to be very useful for a lot of people. The whole point, as I understand it, of the Creative Commons license is to improve the ability of people to automatically collaborate (for lack of a more elegant way to describe it). Helping organize the available information is as important as licensing if you want that to actually work.
Good to see Yahoo! coming out with more innovative stuff.
By way of Creative Commons Guru Lawrence Lessig.
